Tonight's banquet took place at the Knoxville Convention Center and it's keynote speaker is former Webb High School standout, Marshall Graduate, and current New York Jets Quarterback, Chad Pennington.
Pennington is one of the NFL's brightest stars. As a Marshall Senior, he led the thundering herd to a perfecdt 13-0 season in 2000 and was a finalist for a Rhodes Scholarship.
That same year, he was drafted by the Jets in the first-round. After making only three appearances during his first two seasons, Chad emerged as teh Jets' starting quarterback in 2002 and currently owns the highest career passing rating and highest completion percentage in Jets history.
Placed on injured reserve in 2005, Pennington returned to be named Comeback Player of the Year in 2006 after overcoming two rotator cuff surgeries.
Chad and his wife Robin and their two youngs sons, Cole & Luke created the 1st and 10 Foundation in 2003 with the mission to build stronger communities by funding programs and initiatives that seek to improve the quality of life through-out West Virginia, Tennessee, and the New York Metropolitan area.
Among the programs that the Foundation sponsors are the Sahre Our soles, which provides sneakers and backpacks for children.
