One teen gets a homecoming to remember

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.(WVLT) -- As the Hornets and Cherokees were about to hit the field, the real show was already underway.

Carter senior Erin Boyer, a candidate for homecoming queen, just moved back to Knoxville and didn't have an escort. Her first thought was "daddy".

Erin's dad is Air Force Major Eric Boyer, now stationed in New Jersey.

But dear ole dad was able to swing a last minute leave.

24 hours later, in his mess dress, Major Eric Boyer took the field to take hold of his little girl's arm. A night that will never be forgotten.

By the way, dad knows this field pretty well. 28 years ago he was here snapping pictures of his own for Carter as their Yearbook Editor.

Quite the homecoming for this loving father and his little girl.
