Alcoa wins 7th straight state football championship

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT-TV) -- Alcoa stormed past Goodpasture 56-14 Friday night on the campus of Tennessee Tech to win the Class 3A title and claim the school's seventh straight state championship.

Alcoa ends the year with a perfect 15-0 record. It was a season in which the Tornadoes average margin of victory was 37 points a game.

It's also Alcoa's 12th overall football championship--at the moment, more than anybody in the state. Maryville has eleven titles to its name. The Rebels play Smyrna Saturday night at 8 p.m. for the Class 6A championship.

With four touchdowns, Alcoa's Darrell Warren was named the games' offensive most valuable player, while teammate Jarod Crenshaw picked up the award on the defensive side of the ball.

Alcoa running back Vee Hambrick led the Tornadoes' strong running attack with 180 yards on 12 carries.

The Tornadoes only thru the ball five times, completing three passes. All three completions were touchdowns to Steven Isom.
