All-stars take time away from field, spread cheer at Children's Hospital

KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- The best high school football players in Tennessee may be gifted on the field, but they took time Thursday to give gifts to children at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Several participants in the Toyota East-West All-Star Classic handed out a truckload of presents to patients in the hospital, chatting with parents and spending time with kids who may not be able to spend Christmas at home.

"To help other people is good, especially around Christmastime," said Parrish Gaines, a wide receiver from Smyrna High School. "I feel privileged just to do this."

Ensworth linebacker Nantambu Fentress agreed.

"It's definitely an honor," Fentress said. "I'm humbled to see all these kids that weren't as fortunate as I was. I realize I'm really blessed. It's good to give."

The Toyota East-West All-Star game kicks off at noon Saturday. The game will be telecast on Volunteer TV.
