KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/SUBMITTED) -- Christian Academy of Knoxville is pleased to announce that Caitlin Hollifield has been hired as the new head coach of the girls basketball program. She will also serve as assistant
athletic director and will teach a couple of science classes in CAK’s high school.
“We are very excited to welcome Caitlin Hollifield to the CAK community,” CAK Head of School Bob Neu said. “Her commitment to excellence in everything she does is very impressive. She is committed to the Lord and developing deep relationships with her students and players.”
Hollifield graduated from Western Carolina University in 2012 with a degree in science education. She has taught biology, physics, ecology and physical science at Karns High School since returning to the Knoxville area.
Hollifield most recently coached at her alma mater, Powell High School, leading the Panthers to two Region 2-AAA appearances and a combined 43-15 record in two seasons.
As a player, Hollifield began her career at the University of Alabama, where she started 14 of 30 games as a freshman averaging 5.2 points and 4.4 rebounds. After a medical redshirt, Hollifield transferred to Western Carolina and completed her final three seasons of collegiate basketball. She ended her career at WCU with 550 points and 54 blocks.
