COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- CAK quarterback Charlie High rewrote the record books Friday afternoon with seven touchdown passes as he led the Warriors (13-2) to a 49-14 win over Milan in the Class 3A championship.
In the first half alone, High, the Class AA Mr. Football back, broke the TSSAA BlueCross Bowl records for passing yardage and touchdown passes. Then, later in the game, he broke the pass completions record set just 24 hours earlier with 32. High finished with 476 yards on 32-for-41 passing with seven touchdown passes, and won the game's offensive MVP award.
The game also saw the combined passes completed record fall with 38 completions, while CAK set the team yardage record (476) and most passes completed mark (32) High threw more than 100 yards to three different receivers. Davis Howell caught 11 passes for 126 yards and four touchdowns, Josh Smith caught seven passes for 139 and a touchdown and Frank Murchison hauled in seven passes for 138 yards and a score. Corey Rathbone also caught a touchdown pass.
CAK only rushed the ball 25 times for 61 yards.
The victory gave CAK its first title in its first trip to the championship game.
Arkel Coleman led Milan (13-2) with 163 yards rushing and a touchdown on 14 carries. Bulldog quarterback Caleb Powell threw for 62 yards on 6-of-16 passing, and rushed for Milan's other touchdown.
CAK's Camden Winzenburg won the defensive MVP honor with six tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack.
