Jeff McMillan, regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators in the state of Tennessee, has been named the new head football coach at Carter High School.
Jeff McMillan comes to Carter High School after serving as the defensive coordinator at Fulton High School, where he was part of two consecutive 4A state titles. In addition, Coach McMillan served as the defensive coordinator at Central High School under legendary coach Joel Helton where he made 15 TSSAA playoff appearances.
The following is the official statement from Carter High School Athletic Director, Dr. Chad Smith.
“We are excited to name Jeff McMillan as our new head football coach. We are confident that Jeff will build upon our successes that we have had both on and off the football field. Coach McMillan is a winner as evident by the people and programs he has been associated with. Furthermore, Jeff is one of us. As a graduate of Carter High School, Jeff knows what it means to be a Carter Hornet and we look forward to him instilling those values in our young men.”

“Based upon his extensive track record of success, we are confident and excited about our decision to name Jeff McMillan as the new head football coach at Carter High School.”
Jeff McMillan is a native of Strawberry Plains, TN and a 1977 graduate of Carter High School. Jeff’s family includes his wife Sharon and two sons, Clark and Wyl.
There will be a media opportunity for the introduction of Jeff McMillan on Thursday, January 23rd at halftime of the men’s basketball game between Carter and Sweetwater. Tip off starts at 7:30 p.m. EST
