CTK: Campbell County Cougars

JACKSBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- What will Campbell County do for an encore?

That's what success does. When you have it, there's a tendency to want more of it.

The Cougars went a school-record best 10-2 a season ago. They reached the second round of the playoffs, before getting eliminated by eventual Class 5A runner-ups West.

In that playoff game, the Cougars learned exactly where they need to improve in order to take the next step.

""I think the biggest thing we saw when we played West in the second round and got sent home was our special teams," head coach Justin Price said.

"We gave up so many points in that area. We've put a strong emphasis in this offseason to develop some schemes and players in the special teams."

Offensively, the Cougars could be better than ever. The pass-happy Cougar attack returns nine starters from last year's squad.

Campbell County opens up the season August 22 at Cumberland Gap.
