Countdown to Kickoff: Christian Academy of Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors have all the tools to defend their 2011 Class AAA state championship.

But around the Warriors, it's best not to use the word 'defend.'

"We're not looking to defend," CAK linebacker Camden Wizenberg said. " I mean, defending means it can be taken away. What we're looking too is week zero. And then week one, week two, and on from there."

"Our guys have done a really good job of focusing on this year and working hard in the offseason," CAK head coach Rusty Bradley said.

"We don't really talk about last season much anymore and our kids have handled things really well."

Bradley is entering his sixth year as head coach of the Warriors. He has built CAK into a state powerhouse.

The Warriors went 13-2 last season, and with ten starters back from an offensive that averaged over forty points a game, CAK is expected to make another run at a championship.

Warriors' quarterback Charlie High recognizes that his school is now the team to beat.

"We've got the big bulls-eye on our backs this year, so it just comes with the state championship," High said.

The Warrior senior threw a state record 65 touchdowns last year.

CAK also has two University of Tennessee commitments on its team. Wide receiver Josh Smith and offensive lineman Brett Kendrick have both committed to play for the Vols.

CAK opens up the season at Anderson County on August 17.
