GREENBACK, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Greenback High School is working to take the next step.
"We tend to go to the second or third round of the playoffs every year. That's not cutting it," Greenback quarterback Samuel McCloud said.
"We're hoping to do something special."
If the Cherokees are to do something special this fall, it'll be a strong senior class that leads the way.
"The senior class that we have is probably the most unselfish group of seniors I've ever been around and that goes a long way," second year head coach Jason Hicks said.
"We have a lot of kids that have played a lot of football, most of them have started for three years."
Hicks has six starters back on offense and defense from a team that went 7-5 and reached the second round of the state playoffs.
Greenback opens up the season August 22 at Sweetwater.
