KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- It's turn around time for the Central Bobcats.
Historically a strong program, Central has suffered thru five straight losing seasons. Rebuilding players' confidence is one of the first goals for second year head coach Joe Hassell.
"Bad things happened and they kind of tucked their heads," Hassell said. "And that's our job as adults to tell them to work thru those things and keep going forward."
Central returns five starters on both offense and defense, so experience is there.
More importantly, a bond has grown within the Bobcats.
"I feel our team has better unity," quarterback Ben Buell said. "The senior leadership has really taken over and we really haven't had that the last couple of years, so I'm hoping that makes a big impact."
Wide receiver Gavin Adams echoed his teammate's thoughts. "Our motto is 'as one.' We're trying to work together as one team."
Central opens up the season at Catholic. The Irish won last year's game 21-14.
