KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Grace Christian has become a football powerhouse at the Class A level. The Rams have won at least ten games four of the last five years.
There's no reason to think that won't continue this fall.
Head coach Randy McKamey, now in his seventh year at Grace, has 13 total starters back from last year's 10-2 team.
The Rams will have six starters returning on offense, including quarterback Devin Smith. Smith is a strong armed quarterback that will play at the next level. He's started at Grace since his sophomore year.
The Rams did lose talented running back Will McKamey (he's now playing at Navy) and several experienced offensive lineman from 2012, so there's work to be done in those areas.
However, nothing changes for Grace Christian. McKamey wants to go all the way.
"I told the kids the other day, 'Look, football is not recreational, it's too hard, its too hot, its not for everybody, if we are going to be out here lets do it all, lets win it all,'" McKamey said.
"So that's our goal, to win a state championship. We are not going to say our first goal is to win week one or our first goal is to make the playoffs. If we are going to do it, lets shoot for it all, but we will take it one game at a time."
Grace Christian opens up the season August 23 against Austin-East.
