GREENBACK, Tenn. (WVLT) -- There's a saying you'll hear quite a bit around Greenback High School this season.
"Win The Day."
You'll also see, as the Cherokees have WTD on t-shirts and jackets.
"We win one day at a time," offensive lineman Lucas Titlow said. "That's our motto. It's just how we do it."
Thru the years, Greenback has won plenty. The Cherokees are consistently one of the better smaller schools in the state.
In 2012, Greenback went 10-2 and reached the third round of the playoffs.
That was a team coached by Justin Ridge. He's now at William Blount.
Jason Hicks is the school's new head coach, but he's not new to the program, as Hicks was the 'Kees offensive coordinator last year.
Hicks likes the leadership his team possesses. Running back Jordan Anderson is one of those leaders. Anderson isn't shy in expressing what Greenback will do well this fall.
"We're gonna be faster than most teams," Anderson said. "We'll definitely be more conditioned than most teams. So we're gonna try to out run teams."
Greenback opens up the year this Friday at home against Sweetwater.
