HALLS, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Coming off a 1-9 season, the Halls Red Devils return a solid core of starters to improve on that mark.
Halls head coach J.D. Overton, now in his second year with the Red Devils, believes his squad should be strong on both lines of scrimmage.
Halls has a history of running first, pass second. It appears 2013 will be no different.
"Everything we do on offense is going to start with our offensive line and our running back play," Overton said.
"That's where we're the most talented. And that's the philosophy that we're going to employ."
Logan Turpin is one of those offensive lineman. Turpin feels confident about what the Red Devils offensively this year.
"We're going to have a really strong running game. We've got a good offensive line and we've got talented running backs," Turpin said.
"The offensive line is going to work on getting a hat on a hat and opening up the holes, so hopefully we can have a successful running game."
While Halls feels good about its lines, Overton says work will need to be done with at the skill positions to improve play in those areas.
The Red Devils open up the season August 30 at Union County.
