ONEIDA, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Oneida High School is entering its 82nd year of football and the Indians believe 2011 can be like many of those preview 82 years: a playoff one.
Oneida missed out on the postseason last year, going 4-6, but with 9 starters back on offense, and 8 more on defense, the Indians should have the goods to make the playoffs this fall.
With so many starters returning, one would think the Indians are a senior laden team, but that's not the case. Head coach John Brewster, now in his third year, has just four seniors on the squad.
Brewster says he feels good about his running game and both the offensive and defensive lines, but with the lack of seniors, youth could be a concern. Look for members of the Indians' junior class to step up and become leaders.
Oneida opens up the season August 19 at Greenback.
