KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Fulton has its gold ball.
It now has a national ranking to go with it.
NationalHSfootball.com released its HSFB100 (the top 100 high school football teams nationwide) and the Falcons finished 95th.
Earlier this month, Fulton crushed Giles County to claim its second straight Class 4A state championship. It was the school's fifth overall state title.
The Falcons went 15-0 and in the process scored 862 points, setting a new record for Tennessee prep football. The mark is also the fifth most points in a season on a national level.
Dallas Jackson compiles the rankings. He said the Falcons were loaded with dynamic playmakers and how they dominated the competition was impossible to ignore.
"We've seen so many teams do so much on offense, but when you put up the fifth most points in football history, it does say something," Jackson told WVLT.
"No matter what level of competition you're playing, when you do something at that level, you have to take notice of it."
With the exception of Alcoa High School, it's not often a team from one of Tennessee's middle classifications receives national attention.
"To be able to pass that eye test and to pass the depth question and say, 'this is a team that has everything it takes to be just as good as Maryville, regardless of their classification,' it's a real testament of what Coach (Rob) Black and the rest of that program has done," Jackson said.
Booker T. Washington out of Miami won the national title. To see Jackson's complete top 100, click on the link just above.
