Murfreesboro, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The TSSAA BlueCross Girls Basketball State Championships continued Thursday in Murfeesboro with Fulton and Cannon County girls going at it. The lady Falcons making their first trip to State and making the most of it!
Fulton was explosive right from the opening tip and never let up on their way to an impressive 67-49 win over the Lionettes.
Cannon Co. came in with an impressive 30-4 record, but turnovers proved to be a problem for the Lionettes as they gave away possession 23 times. Lady Falcons took advantage and scored 23 points on turnovers.
Freshman KeKe Mckinney led Fulton's momentum with a double-double posting 22 points and 15 rebounds. "For it being our first time and me being a freshman, thats a big deal," said Mckinney.
Behind her in scoring was teammate and three time Miss Basketball Abbey Sissom who put up 13 points. Madison Walkup ended the night with 13 points as well. Sissom and Walkup were followed by Rebekah Faulkner with 12.
The Lady Falcons advance and take on Creek Wood Friday at 7pm ET.
