Greeneville blanks Maplewood to win second straight 4A title

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tanner Stewart ran for 191 yards and three touchdowns, and threw for another to help Greeneville defeat Maplewood 37-0 on Saturday for the 4A championship, its second in a row.

Stewart, the game's offensive MVP, threw for 59 yards on 2-of-4 passing.

The Greene Devils (14-1) won their 13th game in a row, and have a 2-0 record against Maplewood (11-4) after beating the Panthers 17-7 in last year's Class 4A semifinals.

Maplewood was held to six first downs, including just one in the second half.

The 37 points were more than Maplewood allowed in the previous four playoff games combined (26).

Jamel Hall ran for 124 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, and Hays Culbreth caught the 43-yard touchdown pass from Stewart.

Greeneville had 443 yards of total offense, with 354 coming on the ground.

LaDarius Vanlier had 71 yards on 18 carries for the Panthers.
