Longtime Kingston football coach retires

KINGSTON, TN -- After 42 years of coaching high school football, Vic King announced his retirement Monday.

King spent the last 26 years of his coaching career leading the Kingston High School football team. He accumulated a record of 199-98 with the Yellow Jackets.

Kingston ended its season Friday night with a record of 7-4, falling to Polk County in the first round of the 3A playoffs.

King laughing told VLT Local 8 Sports' media partner PreXtra.com that he "got old" and "it's about time."

King spent time on the coaching staffs of Tulane University, Troy University and Cumberland County High School. He was also a graduate assistant one season at Kentucky.
