MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Maryville High School was presented with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy as part of the sixth annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions. Maryville finished No. 51 in the final rankings and is one of 50 schools being honored on this season's tour. The presentation was made at halftime of the boys' varsity basketball game against William Blount.
After losing the season opener to Alcoa, Maryville reeled off 14 consecutive wins culminated by a hard-fought 23-21 decision over Smyrna to capture its 12th Tennessee 6A state championship. Maryville is one of 50 schools being honored on the sixth annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard. MaxPreps ranks more than 15,000 varsity high school football teams.
