MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Maryville quarterback Patton Robinette has committed to play football for North Carolina.

The rising senior said the decision to choose the Tar Heels over several other Division I offers was "pretty easy" because of his comfort level with the program.

"The moment I stepped foot on North Carolina's campus, it just felt right," Robinette said. "I felt like I was compatible with the campus and I'd be comfortable with the coaches and the rest of the team."

Rebels coach George Quarles said he supports Robinette's decision and is happy for his signal-caller.

"I'm really excited for Patton," Quarles said. "He's worked really hard for this. He has a lot of God-given abilities and has used those to his advantage."

Robinette threw for 1,801 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2010, leading the Rebels to the 6A state championship. He also ran for 910 yards and 11 touchdowns.
