BLOUNT CO. (WVLT) -- Former Maryville head coach Tim Hammontree was introduced as Heritage's new coach Tuesday morning.
Mountaineers' athletic director Robbie Bennett described the announcement as "a good day at Heritage."
Bennett said the school looked at several resumes, but Hammontree was the only coach Heritage interviewed.
In 2011, Hammontree served as Anderson County's defensive coordinator. From 1993-1998, he was head coach at Maryville, guiding Rebels to a state championship in 1998.
Hammontree replaces Brint Russell, who stepped down at the end of of a 1-9 season. The Mountaineers haven't had a winning season since 2000.
