MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Playing in the state semifinals for the first time in school history, Wartburg didn't go down without a fight.
Trailing by 18 in the third quarter to Humboldt, the Bulldogs closed much of the gap, before eventually falling 64-58 in the Class A state tournament semifinals.
Wartburg's Alex Fountain led all scorers with 33 points. He was the only Bulldog to reach double figures.
Humboldt led 36-18 at the half, the Bulldogs outscored the Vikings 19-9 in the third quarter to get back in the game.
Wartburg ends the year with a 28-5 record.
