NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Kennedi Bell's basket with 1:17 left in overtime Saturday snapped a 44-44 tie and sparked an 8-1 run to rally Franklin Road Academy to a 52-45 victory over Knoxville Webb in the Division II Class A girls state championship game.
Moments after Bell's basket, tournament MVP Derica Wyatt stole a pass and made a layup to give the Lady Panthers (30-3) a four-point lead.
Franklin Road Academy was able to finish off the Lady Spartans (30-6) on Bell's two free throws with 8 seconds to play.
Wyatt scored 23 points to lead Franklin Road Academy, while Bell added 13. Micah Scheetz led Webb with 11.
Webb led for much of regulation and was ahead 21-15 at halftime. The Lady Spartans had a 40-36 lead with 24 seconds left, but a runner by Catera Sawyers, followed by Wyatt's two free throws with 11 seconds left, forced overtime.
