Knoxville ( PrepXtra.com), West High School boys basketball coach Christopher Kesler was taken to UT Medical Center on Wednesday after falling ill at the school. Athletic Director Steve Kilian confirmed for Jesse Smithey of our media partner PrepXtra.com that Kesler was sitting up and talking prior to being transported to the hospital.
Efforts by WVLT Sports Overtime to get an updated condition on Coach Kesler were unsuccessful Wednesday night.
The Rebels defeated Science Hill Monday night in the Class-AAA sectionals to advance to the school's first ever State Tournament, which for the boys, begins next Wednesday in Murfreesboro.
