KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Tennessee safety Janzen Jackson may be back on the team, but he's not fully "back" yet, Vols coach Derek Dooley said Wednesday.
"It means a lot, but he's only been back two days, so I wouldn't say he's back," Dooley said.
The Tennessee safety missed spring practice and the first session of summer school while dealing with personal issues, which also caused him to forego the majority of bowl practice. Dooley emphasized that Jackson has a lot of work to do to get up to speed.
"He's got a long way to go," Dooley said. "He's still got a lot of things that he needs to do to be a part of the team.
"He certainly fell behind from a conditioning standpoint and a football standpoint, so hopefully he'll be able to catch up."
Jackson is slotted to start at safety for the Vols during the 2011 season.
