Georgia's Washington charged with DUI, won't play vs Vols

COMMERCE, Ga. (AP/WVLT) -- Authorities say University of Georgia starting linebacker Cornelius Washington has been charged with driving under the influence and speeding.

The Jackson County, Ga., sheriff's office says Washington was booked into the Jackson County Jail overnight Sunday. Washington was released on $3,500 bond.

Per university policy, Washington will be suspended 20 percent of the regular season schedule. He will miss UGA's Oct. 8 game at Tennessee and the Bulldogs' game the following week at Vanderbilt.

Washington recorded two sacks and four tackles in Georgia's 24-10 victory Saturday over Mississippi State.
