KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Kentucky's recruiting pipeline into East Tennessee continues.
Powell standout running back Dy'Shawn Mobley has committed to the Wildcats.
"I'm very excited. It's an SEC school," Mobley told Local 8 Sports Monday afternoon.
"That's all I've been wanting to do since I was in 8th grade when I first played football. It's just a great opportunity to be a part of the SEC. I grew a relationship with the Kentucky staff and they have a great fan base that I want to be a part of."
Mobley has been an important part of Powell's 13-0 season. The Panthers host West Friday night in the state semifinals.
Mobley is also less than 400 yards away from breaking former Vol's Troy Fleming's state record for rushing yards in a single season.
In recent years, former standouts like Randall Cobb, Kyrus Lanxter, and Tyler Robinson (all from Alcoa) and Lonas Sieber (Central) signed with Kentucky.
