(WVLT/AP) -- Tennessee's sharp shooting guard Chris Lofton can add another preseason honor to his resume. The senior has been named an Associated Press 1st team preseason All-American. Lofton averaged 20.8 points a game during his junior campaign.
North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough has come up one vote shy of being a unanimous pick for the AP men's preseason All-America basketball squad. He averaged 18.4 points and 7.9 rebounds last season.
The 6-foot-9 Tar Heel is joined on the first team by UCLA guard and fellow junior, Darren Collison.
Two other seniors round out the select squad: 7-foot-2 Roy Hibbert of Georgetown and Michigan State guard Drew Neitzel (NYT'-zihl).
The team is selected by the 72-member panel that votes in the weekly Top 25 poll.
Hibbert received 62 votes, one more than Lofton, while Neitzel was on 37 ballots and Collison was on 31. The next-highest vote-getter was Brandon Rush of Kansas with 23.
