(WVLT) -- When the Lady Vols tip off tonight at 7, there will be a new voice in the broadcast booth -- Tennessee men's coach Bruce Pearl. Pearl will provide the color commentary, accompanying Voice of the Vols Bob Kesling on the MVLT2 broadcast of the Lady Vols' game against Arkansas, who has struggled to a 1-3 record out of the SEC gates.
Tennessee (16-1, 4-0 SEC) should be fresh; the Lady Vols haven't played since Sunday, when they cruised to a 79-63 home win against Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, the Lady Razorbacks (16-3, 1-3 SEC) have cooled after a hot start to the season. After storming to a 15-0 record and a top 20 ranking against a relatively pedestrian non-conference schedule, the Hogs have lost three of their first four SEC games, including a 92-74 setback to Florida in their last outing.
To make matters worse, Arkansas will be without leading scorer Lauren Ervin, who averaged 16 points per game until suffering a season-ending ACL injury in the SEC opener against LSU. Without Ervin, the Hogs will have a serious height disadvantage; in their last game, they did not start a player taller than six feet.
The last time the Lady Vols and Lady Razorbacks met, it took overtime to decide the outcome. Candace Parker poured in 29 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Tennessee edged Arkansas, 75-68, after the extra period.
The game tips off at 7pm and will air on MyVLT2 (Comcast cable channel 8). Complete highlights, postgame comments, and excerpts from Bruce Pearl's color commentary will be available on Sports Overtime at 11pm.
