Lady Vols headed to another National Championship Game

Last second shot gives Tennessee the win over LSU 47 to 46.
Tuesday, at 8:30p Lady Vols will face Stanford from Tampa Bay, FL

The No. 1 Tennessee Lady Vols advanced to their 13th NCAA Championship by beating No. 2 LSU 47-46 in Tampa, Fla. UT will play No. 2 Stanford Tues. @ 8:30 p.m.

Tennessee trailed by one with seven seconds left when Candace Parker drove the length of the court and dished to Nicky Anosike. Anosike missed the short jumper but Alexis Hornbuckle hit the put back to give UT the win.

Tennessee was led by Parker's 13 points and 15 rebonds. Shannon Bobbitt added 11 and Alberta Auguste 10.

LSU was led by Sylvia Fowles's 24 points and 20 rebounds.

Stanford advanced to the NCAA Championship by upsetting UConn 82-73. Stanford gave Tennessee its first loss of the season 73-69 in overtime back in December. This is Stanford's first trip in 11 years back to the big stage.

-----------------------------------------------

Notes…

-Tennessee’s 22 first-half points were its fewest of the season, as was its 28.6 first-half field goal percentage.

-Tennessee extended its streak of games with a three-pointer to 339.

-Tennessee failed to score 50 points in a game for the first time since March 26, 1982, when the Lady Vols lost to Louisiana Tech 69-46 in the NCAA semifinals.

The win tonight…

-Improves the Lady Vols to 35-2 on the season, marking the most wins in a season since the 1997-98 season when UT went 39-0.

-Gives UT a 103-19 all-time record in NCAA Tournament games, including a 5-0 mark this season.

-Gives UT a 397-150 all-time record against ranked opponents, including a 17-2 mark this season.

So happy that candace parkers career at U T is almost over I am tired of hearing the news media carry on about her and her injured arm ( how sad ). She is far over-rated, just look at her stats, last night she couldn't through it in the Atlantic ocean.

How SWEET It Is! No Yukon. Oh, I meant UCONN. And if ever there was a team to take us to the limit, thank the Van and Sylvia led Tiger-ettes. Any other year (no Lady Vols involved) I would have even spell GO incorrectly to support them. Thank you, Lord that I don't have to spell poorly now. GO LADY VOLS!!
