(WVLT) - An unnamed source close to the University Of Tennessee's Men's Basketball program tells your WVLT, Volunteer TV Sports Overtime Team that a contract extension is on Coach Bruce Pearl's desk for him to look over and sign.
It adds one year onto his current deal and takes him up to an average total salary of $1.5 million per season through the Spring of 2013.
Like Coach Fulmer, Coach Pearl now has a deferred compensation package and certainly some incentive to stick around at UT too.
The Coach stands to make an additional $500,000 if he hangs
around through June 30th 2010 ... another $500,000 will come his way if he stays with the Big Orange until June 30th 2013.
"It's money well spent", says UT Athletics Director Mike Hamilton.
This year Coach Pearl stands to make at least $1.2 Million ... Coach Pearl could increase his salary by qualifying for several performance bonus', such-as $250,000 additional for winning a National Championship or $75,000 for winning an SEC Regular Season or Basketball Tournament Championship.
