Iowa point guard signs with Tennessee

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (WVLT) -- Iowa point guard Wes Washpun signed Wednesday with Tennessee, choosing the Vols over Iowa.

The 6-foot-1 native of Cedar Rapids is new Tennessee basketball coach Cuonzo Martin's first signee.

Martin offered Washpun a scholarship while coaching at Missouri State. When he arrived at Tennessee, he offered him again.

Washpun will be eligible to play for the Vols in the 2011-12 season.

Rivals rates Washpun as a three-star athlete. He averaged 18 points and over five assists a game last season.

He has also a 43-inch vertical leap. Click on the video link above to see Washpun in action.

What a fool if he has any talent. Tennessee with a program in a total loss and he commit's, when he could have gone to Martin's former School MO. ST. and be with a growing program and not miss out on post season and TV exposure. I hope he doesn't like playing in March, because he isn't going to. Get out while you can. Martin had "0" recruits in three years that stayed past their first season. Did you read that, they went home!!!! or somewhere.
