Lady Vols to have at least 17 games televised this year

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (release) -- The Southeastern Conference unveiled the 2012-13 women’s basketball television schedule on Tuesday afternoon. Combined with a FOX Sports Net game at Texas on Dec. 16, Tennessee currently has 17 games slated to be televised during the regular season.

In the fourth year of its agreement with ESPN, the SEC will have 58 regular season games and all 13 tournament contests televised live. Eighteen games that involve an SEC team will be distributed nationally with ESPN or ESPN2 televising 11 contests and ESPNU televising seven.

Regionally-syndicated games will be televised on the SEC Network as part of ESPN Regional Television (ERT). The SEC Network will televise eight conference games, while SportSouth and Comcast Sports Southeast will show 16 games each. The majority of games not televised nationally will be available as a part of ESPN Full Court, the pay subscription college basketball out-of-market service, and on ESPN3.com.

As of Tuesday, 14 of the Lady Vols’ 16 SEC games are slated to be on TV, including an ESPN2 telecast of the home game vs. Vanderbilt at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 17. Televised non-conference games include a home Big Monday Presented By Bud Light match-up with Notre Dame on ESPN2 (7 p.m., Jan. 28) and road games vs. Baylor on ESPN (7 p.m. CT, Dec. 18) and Texas on FOX Sports Net (1 p.m. CT, Dec. 16).

Other televised conference home dates include Georgia (1 p.m., Jan. 6) and Missouri (8 p.m., Jan. 10) on SportSouth; and Alabama (1 p.m., Jan. 20), Mississippi State (7 p.m., Jan. 31) and Texas A&M (7 p.m., Feb. 28) on CSS.

Road SEC contests on TV include Florida (11:30 a.m., Jan. 13) and Kentucky (3:30 p.m., March 3) on ESPNU; Arkansas (1 p.m. CT, Feb. 24) on the SEC Network; South Carolina (Jan. 3, 9 p.m.) and Vanderbilt (8 p.m. CT, Jan. 24) on SportSouth; and Auburn (8 p.m. CT, Jan. 17), Missouri (1 p.m. CT, Feb. 3) and LSU (8 p.m. CT, Feb. 7) on CSS.

Additional games may be televised, with nine UT home dates and three road contests yet to be picked up.

The SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament will undergo a format change for the 2012-13 season. The tournament, which had been a four-day event featuring 12 teams since 1992, will now expand to 14 teams, adding an extra day of competition. FOX Sports Net continues its dedication to SEC events by adding the new Wednesday games, while continuing to televise the Thursday and Friday games. The semifinals will be aired on ESPNU for the fourth consecutive year, while the championship game will again be televised on ESPN2.
