KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WVLT) -- Shekinna Stricklen scored 18 points, and Glory Johnson added 14 points and 15 rebounds to help No. 4 Tennesse beat Arizona State 80-64 on Sunday.
Both teams used smothering defense in the first half, but Arizona State's shooting efforts fell apart halfway through.
The Sun Devils wouldn't score again in the half after taking an 18-17 lead on a jumper by Adrianne Thomas with 8:38 to go. The Lady Vols used a 16-0 run during that time to grab a 33-18 lead heading into halftime.
Tennessee (4-0) took advantage of 11 first-half turnovers by Arizona State, turning them into 12 points.
The Sun Devils (2-1) shot 51.9 percent in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome their 28.6 percent first-half shooting, and the Lady Vols' lead never dropped below 13 points after halftime. Dymond Simon lead Arizona State with 13 points.

Glory Johnson recorded her 11th career double-double with 14 points and a career-high-tying 15 boards.
Shekinna Stricklen led all scorers with a season-high 18 points.
Tennessee jumped out to a 10-2 lead just two minutes and 17 seconds into the game.
Arizona State took its first lead of the game at the 8:38 mark in the first half, when Adrianne Thomas made a runner on the right block to put the Sun Devils up 18-17.
After Thomas’ basket, Tennessee held ASU without a basket for the remainder of the half and closed on a 16-0 run.
The Sun Devils committed nine turnovers and shot 0-for-7 from the field for the rest of the half after taking their only lead at the 8:38 mark in the first stanza.
Tennessee held Arizona State scoreless for a total of 8:53 (from 8:38 in the first half to 19:45 in the second half).
Johnson grabbed her 10th board just 1:09 into the second half.
Tennessee led by as much as 23 points (76-53) when Alicia Manning hit a jumper with 3:09 left in the game.
ASU closed the contest on an 11-4 run.

Shekinna Stricklen scored 18 points, giving her 918 for her career. She’s 82 points away from becoming the 35th Lady Vol to tally 1,000 career points.
Tennessee travels to the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands this week. The Lady Vols face Missouri on Thursday (Nov. 25) at 6:45 p.m. AST, Georgia Tech on Friday (Nov. 26) at 9 p.m. AST and Georgetown on Saturday (Nov. 27) at 9 p.m. AST.
Junior Glory Johnson
Nabbed her 11th career double-double and first of 2010-11, scoring 14 points and tying a career-high with 15 boards in a team-best 31 minutes.
Freshman Meighan Simmons
Picked up two quick fouls in the game’s first four minutes and sat out the rest of the first half.
Scored 10 points in just 14 minutes, as she’s started her career with four straight double-figure scoring games.
Junior Shekinna Stricklen
Scored a game-high 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting (2-of-3 from three) and grabbed five boards in 28 minutes.
Sophomore Kamiko Williams
Scored 12 points for the second straight game, making 6-of-13 shots. Also grabbed five boards and had two steals.
Sophomore Taber Spani
Reached double figures for the third straight game, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 30 minutes off the bench.
Tennessee is 7-0 all-time when Spani scores 10 or more points.
