One and done: Michigan crushes Tennessee, 75-45

CHARLOTTE, NC. (AP) -- Zack Novak scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers in a decisive spurt to start the second half, and Michigan beat listless Tennessee 75-45 on Friday in the West region.

The loss was the eighth in 12 games for the Volunteers (19-15), and coach Bruce Pearl's future is in question after his athletic director recently said "the jury is still out" on whether Pearl will return.

In only their second NCAA tournament appearance since 1998, the eighth-seeded Wolverines (21-13) turned a four-point halftime lead into a rout when they got hot from the outside and found a way to stop Tennessee freshman Tobias Harris.

After scoring 19 points and not missing a combined 13 shots from the field and foul line in the first half, Harris went scoreless on 0-of-5 shooting as ninth-seeded Tennessee was outscored 42-16.

If Pearl is to be fired, Hammie should be thrown out right behind him.

Hamilton, not Pearl, is a liablity for the University of Tennessee. I have always been proud of and supported decisions made in hiring coaches(except Kippin) and ADs. Hamilton has shown on more than one occasion he is not the person to lead UT athletics.

I do not follow sports as closely as others in East Tennessee, but I certainly think it would be a huge mistake for UT to fire Pearl. He worked hard to build the team to what it is today. Yes, he made a grievous error, and he has been reprimanded for it. Pearl did no more than many coaches across the country have done. It is unfortunate that Pearl's violations have been a wet cloud hanging over the team, so let's move on and allow Bruce Pearl to do what he has proven he does best...mold a winning basketball team.

Keep Bruce. Good by Mike! Mike showed his blood doesn't run orange by throwing Bruce and the team under the bus right before the game.
