Athletes in Action recently announced its complete roster for its upcoming basketball exhibition tour of Poland and Germany. Joining Tennessee rising sophomore Josh Richardson on the team are 10 players from Division I programs across the country.
The team trip takes place May 26 - June 10 and includes stops in Krakow, Dusseldorf and Berlin. The team also will tour the infamous Auschwitz concentration camp.
Richardson is the lone team member from a Southeastern Conference school, while he’s joined by four players from the Big XII, two from the Southland Conference and one each from Conference USA, the Big East, the ACC and the Atlantic Sun Conference.
The squad will be coached by Baylor director of basketball operations Tim Maloney, who will be assisted by Liberty graduate assistant Pawel Mrozik. Tarleton State’s Steve Simpson will serve as the team athletic trainer.
After beginning the trip with five practice days in Poland, the squad will play three games against the Polish National Team (June 1-3) before traveling to Germany to face five professional club teams (Essen, Dusseldorf, Paderborn, Alba and Stahnsdorf).
The goals of this tour are to provide a rich cross-cultural experience for each team member and for team members to grow in their personal faith. Athletes In Action, a Christian sports organization, is active in 75 countries, on nearly 125 U.S. college campuses and with 35 U.S. professional sports teams.
