KNOXVILLE (WVLT) -- Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt was none too pleased with her team's performance in Saturday's 69-58 loss to Georgetown, the Lady Vols' first setback of the season.
"We fell apart," Summitt said. "I don't have an answer for it."
One answer as to why the team struggled: turnovers. Georgetown's full-court press stymied the Lady Vols' offensive attack to the tune of 29 turnovers, their highest total of the young season.
Poor shooting also plagued the Lady Vols, who were 3-of-18 from three-point range and made only half their free throws.
The most frustrating part for Summitt? The fact that her team blew out its two previous opponents in the Paradise Jam by an average of 31 points.
Summitt said Tuesday that she and her assistants would work hard to ensure the team didn't put forth such a lackluster performance again.
"Our coaching staff, we're motivated," Summitt said. "I think we're going to have to really have to push this group as much as we can."
