NEWARK, NJ (WVLT/AP) -- Former Tennessee forward Tobias Harris was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the first round of the NBA draft.
However, the Bobcats then sent Harris to Milwaukee as part of a three-team trade.
The 6-foot-8 Harris averaged 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds as a freshman with the Volunteers. He could provide needed athleticism on the front line Milwaukee, the NBA's lowest-scoring team last season.
Harris was the 19th overall pick. He's the first Vol selected in the first round since Marcus Haislip went to Milwaukee in 2002.
Harris is just the eighth Vol to be a first round selection.
Scotty Hopson went undrafted. The former McDonald's All-American received much criticism when the made the decision to skip his senior season at Tennessee and enter the draft. Hopson will now look to land on an NBA team as an undrafted free agent.
