UT bans scalping in front of Neyland, Thompson-Boling before games

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee is banning ticket scalping in front of Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena effective immediately. In a statement issued Wednesday, the school explained the new policy is intended to reduce traffic congestion, protect the university's ability to sell tickets to the public, and help improve the safety and comfort of fans.

The new policy prevents commercial solicitations for the four hours leading up to the event and not only covers football and basketball games, but other events, such as music concerts and campus events, as well.

During football games, all commercial activity is banned from Gate 21 Plaza and along the east side of Phillip Fulmer Way from Middle Way Drive to Gate 10.

When basketball season rolls around, resale of tickets and other commercials activity will be prohibited along Phillip Fulmer Way from Tee Martin Drive to Lake Loudon Blvd. in front of the arena.
