KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/AP) -- The University of Tennessee has placed itself on probation for the next two years, a university spokesperson confirmed Friday.
Director of Media and Internal Relations Karen Ann Simsen said the self-imposed probation period began on the day it submitted its Response to the NCAA's Notice of Allegations on May 20.
In addition to those punishments and the probation, Tennessee has prohibited new basketball coach Cuonzo Martin and his staff from providing off-campus meals during the 2011-12 academic year and limited recruiting by football coach Derek Dooley and his staff.
