KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee sophomore forward Jeronne Maymon has been cleared to play with the Volunteers when they travel to Charlotte on Friday.
Maymon, who transferred to Tennessee after playing nine games for Marquette last season, sat out the fall semester under NCAA transfer rules. Tennessee cleared him Wednesday after receiving proof he had passed all of his fall semester classes.
In his nine games last season, the Madison, Wis., native averaged four points and 4.2 rebounds. He also had three steals and a block during the stretch.
Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl had hoped Maymon would be eligible for the Vols' games against Pittsburgh and Oakland, but Tennessee officials wouldn't clear him until a window during which teachers could adjust final grades had passed.
