NASHVILLE (WVLT) -- Tennessee overcame an 11-point deficit and NCAA distractions to beat Vanderbilt on the road Tuesday, 60-51.
Scotty Hopson led three Vols in double figures with 19 points as the Vols improved to 7-6 in the SEC and 17-11 overall.
The Vols won the rivalry game despite rumblings that an NCAA Letter of Allegations had been delivered to campus Tuesday, a document which will likely accuse Pearl and the Tennessee program of serious rules violations, including misleading NCAA investigators.
After the game an ESPN reporter asked Pearl to comment on the NCAA news. Pearl declined to comment, saying only that Tennessee "would be making statements if [the letter] comes out tomorrow."
But Tuesday, the Vols forgot about the looming trouble, sweeping Vanderbilt and adding a key conference road win to their NCAA Tournament resume.
