Daytona Beach, Florida running back Marlin Lane has been recruited by some of college football's most storied programs. In the end, it was the chance to play in the SEC that was to much to pass up as he committed to Tennessee.
"It's the SEC," Lane told Volquest.com. "They are an uprising school and the people were amazing. I really like the coaching staff because they make it easy to fit in. I was looking for a pro-style offense and that is what they run. That was a big plus."
Lane also told Volquest that his visit to Tennessee last weekend made the biggest impression.
"I had never seen snow before," Lane said. "I experienced the snowman and just had such a great time. The facilities were amazing and just showed their commitment to football. And the people, they were just great. They really made my trip a success."
Returning from an ACL injury, Lane only played in five games his senior season. He rushed for almost 800 yards in those five games and will bring quite the weapon to Rocky Top.
"I'll bring another weapon," Lane told Volquest.com's Austin Price on Monday afternoon. "Get in the open field and use my explosiveness. Just another impact player. My goal is to get playing time as a freshman and help Tennessee win. I'm coming in to compete and I'm not going to let anyone outwork me."
