KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Central High School football player Cody Blanc was in a good mood Friday.
"I've been smiling all day," Blanc said Friday morning.
The running back and safety committed to play for Derek Dooley and the Vols.
"This is big for me and my family to go where I've always wanted to go. It's big. It's really exciting," Blanc continued.
"Tennessee is in my blood. I've been in Tennessee all my life. I've always dreamed about playing over there. It's the second biggest stadium in college football, so it doesn't get much better than that."
After running at 4.41 40-yard dash earlier this month at a Virginia Tech football camp, Blanc's stock began to rise. His first Division I offer came from the Hokies, shortly after that, Vanderbilt offered.
Last weekend, the Vols were the third major program to offer this month. After a talk with Dooley, Blanc knew Tennessee was where he wanted to be.
"He went over all the things. Like, you're gonna have to compete and we're not gonna have to give you anything and you're gonna have to work hard. He talked about how Tennessee was the right fit for me. That's what I wanted to hear."
The 6'2', 195 pound Blanc is projected to play safety once enrolled at Tennessee.
