RICHMOND, Va. (WVLT) -- Green won't be seeing orange.
Derrick Green, the nation's one running back in the class of 2013 according to Rivals, picked Michigan over Tennessee and Auburn Saturday afternoon.
Green, 6'0", 220 lbs, is also listed by Rivals as the eighth overall prospect in this year's signing class.
Green had an announcement ceremony in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. In what's become a ritual, Green had the hats of his three finalists on the table in front of him (Michigan, Auburn, and Tennessee.)
Green first reached for the Michigan hat, then starting toward the Tennessee cap. He then left table, walked to a walk, and flipped a switch. A projection screen that was behind the table started to rise, unveiling a Michigan jersey.
It's been believed for several weeks that the Wolverines were the slight favorites over Tennessee. The opportunity to play early at Michigan favored heavily in Green's decision. Michigan also didn't go thru a coaching like Tennessee and Auburn.
