LAWRENCE, Kansas (WVLT) -- Former Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer has his eye on a new job. The Lawrence Journal-World is reporting that Fulmer wants to head west to the University of Kansas, a school better known for its basketball program than for football.
The paper quoted a local businessman who talk to Fulmer and said “(h)e told me a little over a week ago, ‘Let ’em know I’m interested.’”
Fulmer interviewed for the KU job two years ago. The university hired then-Buffalo coach Turner Gill instead. Gill was recently fired following a disappointing 2-10 season. He was 5-19 in his two years.
