KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The University of Tennessee athletic department has escaped major sanctions that could have been levied by the NCAA in regards to the men's basketball and football programs, a source close to the situation told WVLT.

The NCAA is expected to announce its findings from June's Committee on Infractions on Wednesday.

A source close to UT athletics also tells WVLT that Bruce Peal will receive a three year show cause penalty. Former assistants Tony Jones, Steve Forbes and Jason Shay will get a one year show cause penalty.

No major penalties will be levied against the football program. The NCAA has accepted UT's 2 year probation placed on athletics.

There will also be no post-season ban or loss of scholarships for the men's basketball program.
