USC apologizes for calling Vols signee Jalen Hurd 'soft and terrible'

Knoxville, Tenn --(CBSsports.com) USC issued an apology on Monday after learning that an Instagram video from National Signing Day included criticisms of a current Tennessee freshman.

The video, which has since been removed, was part of a signing day tracker. As Lamont Simmons was added to the Trojans' board, a USC coach or staffer can be heard off-camera describing five-star running back Jalen Hurd as "so soft and terrible."

A copy of the video did make it to YouTube, with the quote being attributed to USC assistant Tee Martin. The former Tennessee quarterback has not confirmed or denied that the voice on video was his, but Martin did tell Tennessee Sports Radio that he "never had any dealings with Jalen Hurd, and wish him nothing but the best at Tennessee."
