Knoxville (WVLT-TV), Jacques Smith who is a freshman UT Football player took a plea today for misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to 11 months 29 days of judicial diversion. This information provided by the Knox Co. General Sessions Court.
The charges stem from an incident back on October 31st when Smith punched 21 Brandon Allen and then kicked and punched the man while he lay on the ground at New Amsterdam on 1836 Cumberland Ave.
If the 18 year old Smith complies with the court ruling and stay out of trouble, then the Class A misdemeanor will be dropped from his record.
Smith, who's due back in court on February 22nd, is listed on the two deep roster heading into Saturday's game.
